Ingredients

Et Sote

  • 1.1 pound cubed beef (500g)
  • 4 medium tomatoes 3 chopped and 1 grated
  • 4 peppers
  • 2 onion peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1 chilli finely chopped
  • 2 cup tomato purée (1/2L)
  • 4 tbsp butter (2 knob)
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 1 cup water (250ml)
  • Finely chopped flat leaf parsley to garnish
  • salt and pepper to taste

Bread

  • 1/2 pound bread (250g)
  • 4 tbsp butter (2 knob)
  • 2 tsp chilli flakes

Instructions

Et Sote

  • Add beef and butter to a frying pan and cook on a medium heat.
  • Once the juices have reduced, add onion and pepper (and chilli, if using).
  • Stir around until onion and pepper have softened a little.
  • Now add grated tomato and simmer for a couple of minutes so you allow the beef to absorb the juices and cook through.
  • Add chopped tomatoes, oregano and seasoning and stir.
  • After a couple of minutes, add tomato puree and around 1 cup (250ml) water.
  • Stir until puree has dissolved and simmer until beef has completely softened.
  • Add more water if your sauce thickens too much.
  • Remove from the heat.

Bread croutons

  • Roughly cut bread into bite-sized chunks.
  • Heat the butter and chilli flakes in a pan and add the bread.
  • Stir around until bread starts to crisp and toast (around 3 minutes).
  • Arrange the bread around the edges of two large bowls and add your Et Sote to the center.
  • Sprinkle with the parsley and serve.
  • Enjoy!
